The results of the UK Michelin Guide 2013 have been announced with the usual mix of agreement and disdain.
Whatever your thoughts on the Michelin guide, it remains one of the best and most accurate guides to dining, despite its heavy focus on French haute cuisine, and it’s the one that restaurateurs and chefs most revere.
There are no changes at the 3 star level, meaning that Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, Gordon Ramsay’s Royal Hospital Road, The Fat Duck and The Waterside Inn remain as the only 3 Michelin Starred restaurants in the UK Michelin Guide 2013.
The Lecture Room at Sketch becomes London’s most recent 2 star restaurant, with L’Enclume in Cartmel and Michael Wignall at The Latymer also obtaining a second Michelin star in the UK Michelin Guide 2013.
There are a number of new 1 star restaurants in London including Dabbous, Medlar, Trishna, Hedone, Launceston Place and Alyn Williams at the Westbury with Tom Aikens regaining his star after dropping off the list last year.
Heston Blumenthal’s pub in Bray, The Hinds Head, has added to the chef’s collection of Michelin stars.
Notable absentees include Gauthier Soho and Zefferano who appear to have lost their 1 star. The full UK Michelin Guide 2013 can be viewed here.
