Emyr visits The Spa at Dolphin Square for a traditional Moroccan experience.
You’ll find most of London’s top spas inside its best luxury hotels, but not with The Spa at Dolphin Square.
Dolphin Square is a high-end residential apartment block for short stay and long term lets in Pimlico.
As part of the facilities there is a fitness centre with a 17 metre pool, sauna and steam rooms, three squash courts and two exercise/dance studios. There is also an outdoor tennis court and a croquet lawn.
The entrance to The Spa at Dolphin Square is right next to the fitness centre’s reception area, so it does feel like you’re arriving through a local swimming pool, which considerably affected my zen levels before arriving at the spa.
The Spa at Dolphin Square is Moroccan in design and in the range of treatments on offer, and there is a traditional hammam for guests to use.
When you arrive, your therapist will start by sprinkling your hands with rose water, which I’m told is a traditional Moroccan greeting, before starting your treatment.
The Moroccan signature rituals on offer include Journey of Spices (hot-towel pressure-point massage, full body spice scrub and a ‘7-Spices Facial’); Artisan Facial (skin analysis, double cleanse and exfoliation, and facial massage); and The Marrakech Ritual (traditional Hammam ritual and a choice of Argan Oil Facial or Shea Butter Massage).
I went for the Arabian Ceremony, which consists of a foot cleansing ritual, a full body exfoliation, full body massage and a soothing scalp massage.
At almost 2 hours for £109, the signature Moroccan treatments offer real value and you will leave feeling relaxed and revitalised, with your skin feeling and looking radiant.
While it isn’t as luxurious as some of the spas you’ll find in my favourite London hotels, The Spa at Dolphin Square does provide a good option for a day spa in the city, especially for fans of traditional Moroccan hammams.
