As I stepped into this stylish white salon on Sloane Avenue, Joe Mehmet and his creative director Diego Miranda greeted me warmly, taking my coat and ushering me to a plush leather chair for my hair consultation.
Joe, who boasts over 20 years of experience in the industry, having worked with some of the most esteemed salons, photographers and directors, heads this boutique salon in Chelsea.
His equally experienced creative director and top celebrity hair stylist, Diego, recently joined JOES Salon from New York, attracted by London’s cool buzz. The salon offers a variety of hair salon services, from cuts and styles to colour treatments and technical work.
For those looking for a longer pampering session, JOES Salon also offers nail treatments and make up application.
Before my appointment I had made up my mind to exchange my long boho hair for a smarter, shorter look.
Diego could not have been more understanding during the hair consultation, determining my needs, and making suggestions as to how it should be cut, advising on face-framing layers for a softer look.
My hair was washed with Aloe-Jojoba products, which use Jojoba, an oil that replenishes and locks-in moisture for a sleeker finish. The cut was soon underway and as I watched lengthy chunks of hair falling to the floor I felt perfectly comfortable in Diego’s experienced hands, engaging in a very interesting discussion on French politics.
The end result was beyond my expectations, beautiful and complete with soft, textured waves. My only worry, which I voiced, was being able to recreate the finish at home, to which Diego replied, “You’ll just have to come and see me again” – with pleasure!
A cut and blow dry at JOES starts from £60 and colour treatments range from £60 to £250.
Joes also offers other salon services, including hair-up and bridal hair styling, price on request. If you would like further information please visit JOES salon website.
