Set on a 400-acre estate of rolling Hampshire countryside, just over an hour from central London, the first impression you get when you walk inside is that Heckfield Place<\/a> still very much feels like a home.<\/p>\n

Barely an hour\u2019s drive from London, yet a hundred miles away in your mind, you are greeted by an imposing manor house with the countryside very much at its feet.<\/p>\n

A former 13th-century hunting lodge is now home to Lime Wood<\/a>, one of the UK\u2019s chicest boutique country house hotels, a mere 2 hours from London, in the New Forest Park.<\/p>\n

Whatley Manor<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Whatley Manor, located near the Wiltshire market town of Malmesbury, is the epitome of a traditional English country house hotel.<\/p>\n

The 12 acre grounds are beautiful with rose and herb gardens sitting alongside water features and more modern sculptures.<\/p>\n

The younger sister to Lime Wood, with a similar feeling of effortless luxury, with more of a rustic-chic look, The Pig is a country house hotel<\/a> that places food at its core, from the meticulous cultivating of ingredients to rearing the livestock to the dishes that arrive at your table.<\/p>\n

The 26 rooms at The Pig Hotel are divided between the main mansion house and converted stables, centred around the prized walled garden where most of your food is sourced.<\/p>\n

The Pig is a rather wonderful country house hotel that is suitable for all seasons and will leave you positively snorting with joy.<\/p>\n

The Lygon Arms<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Lygon Arms in Broadway, which was recently acquired by Iconic Luxury Hotels (who also own Cliveden and Chewton Glen), is a traditional coaching inn dating back to the 14th century.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a cosy, old world feel, with several snugs, open fireplaces and a labyrinth of sitting areas.<\/div>\n
