With 554km of coastline, Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, situated off the East coast of Spain.<\/p>\n

With the revitalised cobbled streets of Palma, the world-class golf and the excellent gourmet restaurants scattered around the island, it\u2019s easy to see why Mallorca is one of the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

Luxury Hotels in Mallorca<\/h2>\n

We have just returned from a trip to Mallorca to view some of the island’s best hotels – read on for our favourite luxury hotels in Mallorca.<\/p>\n

Belmond La Residencia<\/h2>\n

La Residencia<\/a>, a charming and elegant sixteenth and seventeenth-century manor house in the heart of the village of Dei\u00e0, is one of the most exclusive hotels on the island.<\/p>\n

The rooms are spacious and elegant, with Mallorcan antiques and modern art from local artists blending seamlessly. The beds are extremely comfortable and you are never far away from truly spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the coast in the distance.<\/p>\n

\"Belmond<\/a><\/p>\n

La Residencia is a part of the Belmond Group (formerly Orient Express), therefore it offers all the amenities you could hope for, including two outdoor and one indoor swimming pool, a large gym, a spa and two tennis courts with a resident professional coach.<\/p>\n

You can also learn to paint, hike in the hills, explore the surrounding area on a mountain bike and dine in an exceptionally romantic setting under the olive trees at El Olivio.<\/p>\n

\"El-Olivio-Belmond-La-Residencia\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Deia also has many excellent restaurant a few minutes\u2019 walk from the hotel, including the Michelin-starred Es Raco des Teix<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cap Rocat<\/h2>\n

A former military fort near Llucmajor was unveiled as a new luxury hotel, Cap Rocat<\/a>. Each of the 24 suites has its own patio, terrace and sun loungers, offering glorious views of Palma in the distance.<\/p>\n

The Sea Club restaurant at Cap Rocat has a beautiful sea front setting, and serves dishes from a traditional firewood oven.<\/p>\n

At night, Cap Rocat is beautifully lit, which adds to its romantic charm.<\/p>\n

Hotel Sant Francesc<\/h2>\n

Housed in a restored 19th-century mansion in the centre of Palma, Hotel Sant Francesc<\/a> is the latest luxury hotel to open in Mallorca. The lobby is dramatic and full of character and traditional charm, while the 42 rooms have a chic, contemporary feel.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

A great location for a city break with Palma\u2019s restaurants, bars and art galleries on your doorstep, the rooftop pool is also a big attraction.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

I would highly recommend a sundowner cocktail on the roof at Hotel Sant Francesc while taking in the views of Palma\u2019s rooftops.<\/p>\n

Castell Son Claret<\/h2>\n

A ceremonious tree-lined driveway leads to the converted 18th<\/sup> century castle that is now home to Castell Son Claret<\/a>. The stone walls house 22 rooms and 16 suites, some with Juliet balconies, others with large terraces and some with private pools.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

The terrace at Olivera is a gorgeous setting for an alfresco tapas lunch, while the more formal dinner-only Zaranda restaurant has a Michelin star.<\/p>\n

The Castell Bar, which is located in the building\u2019s former chapel, is a lovely spot for a quiet pre-dinner drink.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

The pool at Castell Son Claret is a haven of tranquillity with views of the gorgeous landscape all around.<\/p>\n

St Regis Mardavall<\/h2>\n

The St Regis Mardavall<\/a> has long been one of the best luxury hotels in Mallorca since it opened in 2002.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

More of a luxury resort than the others listed here, the St Regis Mardavall offers golf, tennis, art gallery and spa facilities to accompany its c.130 rooms and suites.<\/p>\n

\"Es<\/a><\/p>\n

The Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant, Es Fum, is a big draw, as is its proximity to Palma and the signature St Regis Butler service.<\/p>\n

A short journey from Deia is the equally picturesque village of Valldemossa and the rustic chic charm of the Mirabo de Valldemossa<\/a>. Mirabo has only eight rooms and one suite, all of which are simple, comfortable and elegant, and most of which have a private terrace.<\/p>\n

\"Mirabo<\/a><\/p>\n

One of the best features of the hotel is the peace and tranquillity it offers, with nothing but the view from the pool to cause a distraction.<\/p>\n

Styled as an \u2018agroturismo\u2019, Mirabo de Valldemossa is designed to be a home from home, where you can have home cooked traditional Mallorcan cuisine for breakfast and dinner, but all other snacks and drinks are self served in the style of an honesty bar.<\/p>\n

Notable restaurants on the island include Simply Fosh, from British chef Marc Fosh, in Palma\u2019s old town, Michelin-starred Es Fum at the St Regis Mardavall Hotel and Tast Club for tapas in a stunning building in Palma.<\/p>\n
