restaurants since it opened in 1990.<\/p>\n<p>Our favourite dishes included the rich and fiery Rajasthani Lal Maas (osso bucco and boneless lamb, clove, garlic) and duck jardaloo, which has slices of pink-cooked duck layered over a sticky, sweet-and-sharp jam of apricot, chilli, jaggery and vinegar \u2013 divine.<\/p>\n<p>Chutney Mary&#8217;s bar, The Pukka Bar, is open throughout the day for food and drink.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Hoppers<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Hoppers brought Sri Lankan and South Indian cooking in to London\u2019s mainstream restaurant scene with its casual, energetic style and bold flavours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20095\" combine these with dosas, kothu roti, curries and grilled meats inspired by the street food and home cooking of Colombo and southern India.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bombay Brasserie<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Serving the neighbourhood of Kensington since 1982, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bombayb.co.uk\/\">Bombay Brasserie<\/a> is known for its delicious, authentic and eclectic Bombay cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>Arrive early and enjoy a cocktail at the bar, which, with its gallery of faded photos, plantation shutter and traditional wall fans, is like stepping back in time to the gentlemen\u2019s clubs of Imperial India.<\/p>\n<p>Menu highlights for us included the Masala Seabass, the crispy fried baby spinach, which was smothered in a tangy yoghurt, date and tamarind chutney and lightly spiced potato rosties.<\/p>\n<p>With large tables set far apart, it is the perfect place <a title=\"The Best Restaurants for a Business Lunch in London\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvivant.co.uk\/journal\/londons-best-restaurants-for-a-business-lunch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">to take business clients<\/a> or for a special occasion.<\/p>\n<h2>Bibi<\/h2>\n<p>Bibi is an Indian restaurant from chef Chet Sharma, whose background includes acclaimed kitchens such as Moor Hall and L\u2019Enclume, before serving as Group south.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Cinnamon Club<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/cinnamonclub.com\/\">Cinnamon Club<\/a> has been serving the politicians and policy-makers of Westminster since 2001. Innovative Indian dishes are served in a high ceiling, book-lined former Victorian library with downstairs <a title=\"cocktail bars\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvivant.co.uk\/journal\/londons-best-cocktail-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cocktail bar<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following a short period of closure, the restaurant re-opened in 2015 following a major refurbishment.<\/p>\n<p>Highly-regarded Executive Chef Vivek Singh and Head Chef Rakesh Ravindran Nair have developed a new menu that combines The Cinnamon Club\u2019s signatures with new dishes and celebratory platters.<\/p>\n<p>We can highly recommend their lunch menu, which is excellent value.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Dishoom<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dishoom.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dishoom<\/a>, a stylish Bombay brasserie in the style of the old post-colonial Irani cafes of Bombay, has taken London by storm.<\/p>\n<p>Since its first restaurant opened on St Martin\u2019s Lane in 2010, three sister restaurants have opened in Shoreditch, Kings Cross and most recently on Carnaby Street.<\/p>\n<p>Serving breakfast options, salads, grills, biryanis, dals and a variety of small plates, we thought the stand out dishes were the dal makhani, the lamb cutlets and the crunchy, tangy Bhel (puffed rice, Bombay Mix and nylon sev tossed with fresh pomegranate, tomato, onion, lime, tamarind, mint).<\/p>\n<p>Bookings are taken for breakfast and lunch, but only for groups at dinner, so be prepared to wait for a table. There is a <a title=\"basement bar\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvivant.co.uk\/journal\/speakeasy-cocktail-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">basement bar<\/a>, which will help time pass more quickly as you wait.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Gymkhana<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Following the success of Trishna, restaurateur Karam Sethi launched <a title=\"Gymkhana restaurant\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvivant.co.uk\/journal\/gymkhana-restaurant-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gymkhana<\/a> on Albemarle Street in Mayfair.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant is inspired by the Colonial Indian gymkhana clubs, and this is certainly reflected in the colonial style interiors of dark wood, marble, ceiling fans and black and white photographs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11120\" you\u2019re visiting Gymkhana for dinner, insist you sit downstairs where the clubby, subdued lighting really comes into play.<\/p>\n<p>Pick a booth and look out onto the bar sending out beautifully coloured cocktails from a creative list on ornate silver trays.<\/p>\n<p>The impressively large-scale menu allows for lots of ordering, and sharing is definitely the way to go here.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights are plentiful, but a particular star was the Keralan Moilee Mussels served with Curry Leaf and Garlic Naan.<\/p>\n<p>Gymkhana is our pick for one of the best Indian restaurants in London. <strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Pali Hill<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Pali Hill, a 60-seater restaurant focusing on regional small plates from India opened in Fitzrovia this October.<\/p>\n<p>The inspiration for the concept comes from the \u2018building societies\u2019 in India, where emigrants from different parts of the country lived communally and shared family recipes and food.<\/p>\n<p>The occupants and their families would gather for potluck lunches or \u2018tombola\u2019 evenings in the buildings\u2019 parking lot or gardens, with invitations posted on society notice boards.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16965\" \/><\/p>\n<p>All of the dishes at Pali Hill are meant to be shared and include such delicacies as Spicy Fried Squid with crispy kale, Tandoori Monkfish with mango pickle marinade &amp; charred corn, Grilled Lamb Cutlets with mint raita, Veal Shin with fennel and chilly, Sea Bass steamed in banana leaf with raw mango, mint, coriander and lime and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Bandra Bhai, a bar in the restaurant\u2019s basement pays tribute to the smuggling dens of India when the country\u2019s closed economy created a ring of smugglers who imported everything from foreign liquor, gold watches to Japanese televisions.<\/p>\n<p>Filled with velvets, gaudy art, and a little tacky upholstery, Bandra Bhai is a perfect spot to escape reality and indulge in some Champagne Lassi, Flight Rider (3 mini martinis) or Indo-Irish coffee.<\/p>\n<h2>Ambassadors Clubhouse<\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">The latest opening from the JKS Group brings together the polished interiors, vibrant atmosphere and confident cooking that have become synonymous with the group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Hidden away on Heddon Street just off Regent Street, Ambassadors Clubhouse celebrates the rich flavours of Punjab.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20096\" formerly Head chef at Michelin-starred Tamarind, has opened his own restaruant near Cadogan Hall, just by Sloane Square.<\/p>\n<p>The 90-cover restaurant is inspired by the chef\u2019s upbringing in Tamil Nadu in South India and the menu focuses on dishes cooked on a robata grill.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-16072\" title=\"Quilon Restaurant Review\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bonvivant.co.uk\/journal\/quilon-restaurant-review\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Quilon <\/a>opened in 1999 and is appreciated for its refined southwest coastal Indian cooking that mixes the traditional with the experimental.<\/p>\n<p>Seafood is at the heart of the menu but meat and vegetarian dishes are also offered and are mostly designed for sharing.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Roti Chai<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Roti Chai is a short walk from Oxford Street offering Indian street food in a roadside-style cafe, plus a restaurant with a modern Indian dining menu of small plates.<\/p>\n<p>The ground-floor \u2018street kitchen\u2019 is ideal for a quick lunch with bhel pooris, samosas and portions of light Gujarati dhokra sponge among the dishes on offer.<\/p>\n<p>The dining room is only open in the evenings with Bengal fish curry, aloo tikka burgers and Keralan spiced wings among our favourite dishes.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Trishna<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Located in the heart of London&#8217;s Marylebone, Trishna specialises in coastal cuisine of south-west India.<\/p>\n<p>The cooking here is highly
