The Month Ahead – September 2015

Les 110 de Taillevent

The two-Michelin starred Le Taillevent from Paris is set to open a 70-cover brasserie, Les 110 de Taillevent London, in Cavendish Square.

Featuring 110 wines by the glass, paired with contemporary and seasonal French dishes, guests will experience the spirit of Le Taillevent in a relaxed setting. [Update – now due to open on 21 October].

Bernardi’s

Bernardi’s is a new modern Italian restaurant from brothers Gabriel and Marcello Bernardi. The 120-cover all-day restaurant and bar will sit on the corner of Seymour Street and Seymour Place.

In the kitchen Head Chef Sabrina Gidda, a two-time Roux Scholarship finalist, joins the team from Restaurant Associates, and will create a simple and seasonal, modern Italian menu.

Truscott Cellar

This September sees the launch of The Truscott Cellar, a new 60-cover contemporary wine bar with food from chef Aidan McGee. This is the second venture from Andrew and Mary Jane Fishwick, owners of The Truscott Arms.

Wright Brothers Oyster House

The Wright Brothers are opening a new oyster house in South Kensington. The oysters will come in a variety of styles and will be served both in the main restaurant and the Wright Brothers’ first independent cocktail and oyster bar, The Mermaid.

Charlie

Luca Maggiora, Jordan Rocca and Paul Chung, open their new nightclub, Charlie, in Mayfair this month.

Named after Charlie Chaplin, Charlie’s interior of warm wood, rich leathers & vintage furniture ‘will offer an atmosphere unlike any other club in Central London’ and includes a pool table, curated art & fireplaces.

Unexpected Pairings Series

Two leading sommeliers, Sunaina Sethi from Gymkhana and Fleur McCree from Little Beauty wines, have paired up to create a series of events designed to challenge preconceived ideas about what makes a great wine and a great sommelier.

The private dining room at Trishna

The next event in the series will take place at Trishna on Wednesday 2nd September with a four-course menu paired with Little Beauty wines. Tickets are priced at £95 per guest.

The Threadneedle Bar at the Royal Exchange

Following extensive refurbishment, the Threadneedle bar in The Royal Exchange is re-opening, serving cocktails inspired by mid-19th century recipes including selections of ‘fizzy’, ‘short & seductive’, ‘long & seasonal’, ‘timeless’ concoctions as well as a ‘signature’ collection.

Tom Kerridge at Harrods

Harrods is welcoming Tom Kerridge as the next guest chef as part of its Chef of the Season campaign. The celebrated chef will be launching two ranges of ‘dishes-to-go’ for Harrods Food Halls; his winter range will launch on 1stOctober and his Christmas range on 12th November.

Kerridge will also host a pop-up restaurant in the Food Halls from 2nd to 8th November where he will be cooking on an open grill with his team from The Hand & Flowers.

The Good Egg

The Good Egg opens this month in Stoke Newington in Hackney. Founder, Joel Braham, baker Oded Mizrachi and chefs Alex Coppard and Myles Broscoe, will be serving up a menu inspired by their childhoods and travels.

From the distinctive bagels and cured meats of Myles’ home town in Mile End district of Montreal; the stuffed pitas and bright, fresh flavours Oded remembers from Tel Aviv; and the street-side crispy fried chicken and chilaquiles Joel ate in California.

Dirty Bones

The team behind American comfort food restaurant, Dirty Bones, is opening its second site in Soho’s Kingly Court.

Seating 65, the menu will include American comfort food classics with a twist such as: The Mac Daddy Burger (6oz house burger topped with pulled beef short rib, mac ‘n’ cheese); and BBQ Fried Chicken (free range crispy fried chicken thighs and drumsticks in Dirty Bones bourbon and marshmallow barbecue sauce).

Farmers & Fletchers In the City

Home to two City Livery Companies, The Worshipful Company of Farmers and The Worshipful Company of Fletchers, this renovated events venue will open in September 2015.

The venue will provide an elegant and contemporary location for a range of private and corporate events from private dinners, wedding receptions and parties, to meetings, conferences and press launches.  The largest room will accommodate up to 120 guests for dinner.
