My wishlist for the first part of this year includes Mauritius, South Africa, Santorini and St Bart’s, with many more destinations for later this year hopefully!
To give you some inspiration, here is my selection of the best new luxury hotels opening in London and beyond in 2017.
New Luxury Hotels in London
The Ned by Soho House
The Ned is the new members’ club, restaurant and hotel from Soho House in a Grade I listed building which once housed the headquarters of the Midland Bank.
Due to open in early 2017, the hotel and club will have 252 bedrooms, nine restaurants, rooftop and indoor swimming pools, a gym, spa and hammam.
The Ned will not be a members-only business, but there will be members-only access to a rooftop space with swimming pool overlooking the City of London, Canopy Bar & Restaurant, and fitness and wellbeing facilities.
Four Seasons at 10 Trinity Square
Four Seasons at 10 Trinity Square opens on 26 January, 2017 in a Grade II listed building, overlooking Tower of London in the City of London.
We are anticipating an exquisite restoration of a beautiful building – I have seen some of the suites and can confirm that it will be a stunning addition to London’s luxury hotel scene.
The picture below is one I posted on Instagram when I visited earlier this year.
The hotel will offer 100 rooms as well as 41 private residences and three dining options, including home to the three Michelin-starred Chef Anne-Sophie Pic’s first London restaurant.
There will be a luxurious spa, state-of-the-art fitness centre and beautiful indoor pool.
The Curtain Hotel
The Curtain Hotel is set to be one of the coolest hotels opening in London in 2017.
The hotel will feature a rooftop swimming pool, private screening room and The Red Rooster restaurant, an offshoot of the acclaimed Harlem restaurant.
In addition to 120 luxury guest rooms, there are six suites, and over 6,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Nobu Hotel Shoreditch
The Nobu Hotel Shoreditch is due to open in early 2017 and the hotel design will be industrial: angular structures, concrete balconies and steel beams will dominate the design of the 150-room hotel.
The hotel’s restaurant will be developed by chef Nobu Matsuhisa with his signature east-meets-west philosophy and excellent Japanese cuisine.
Other London hotel openings…
Look out for Paris hotspot Hotel Costes opening near Sloane Square, the Belmond Cadogan re-opening in Chelsea in 2018 and a new hotel in Covent Garden backed by Robert De Niro.
New Global Luxury Hotels…
Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel
Originally built in 1758, Hôtel de Crillon has a fantastic location overlooking Place de la Concorde in Paris.
The restoration under Rosewood should see the introduction of a contemporary style to the hotel while retaining the hotel’s traditions and character.
While details have been kept under wraps, Karl Lagerfeld has designed a few signature suites. Read our guide to the best hotels in Paris.
Hotel Eden, Rome
A part of the Dorchester Collection, The Eden Hotel is currently undergoing an extensive restoration project of its 98 guestrooms and suites and is due to reopen in April 2017.
Full of classic Italian style, the hotel’s redesign and refurbishment will offer a luxurious and classical feel with fine fabrics and elegant artwork, offering a relaxed and homely feel in a refined setting.
The Whitby NYC
In February 2017, Firmdale Hotels will open The Whitby Hotel, its second New York property, adding to the Crosby Street Hotel in Soho.
Located in Midtown on West 56th Street at 5th Avenue, the hotel will have 86 individually designed bedrooms and suites over sixteen floors all with floor-to-ceiling windows, many with private terraces.
Interiors will be designed by Kit Kemp using her trademark mix of colour, pattern, texture and art.
Almanac Barcelona
The first Almanac Hotel to launch will be Almanac Barcelona (92 rooms and suites) in the summer of 2017, located on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes.
Expect a stylish and contemporary décor using a wealth of textures, different materials and a palate of grey, beige and gold tones throughout with accents of oak and walnut.
Nobis Copenhagen
In spring 2017 Nobis opens its first hotel outside of Sweden. While contemporary in style, the Nobis Hotel Copenhagen is located in an historic building and will have 77 rooms. More details to be announced soon!
Oetker Collection’s Palácio Tangará, São Paulo
Built in the surroundings of the Burle Marx Park, Palácio Tangará will open its doors in the spring of 2017. The hotel will offer 141 spacious guestrooms – including 55 suites – all with beautiful views overlooking the park.
Additional facilities will include 11 function rooms, including a ballroom for up to 360 guests with terraces overlooking the park.
Six Senses launch in Bhutan
Six Senses will launch five lodges in Bhutan in September 2017. Located in Paro, Thimphu, Punakha, Gangtey and Bumthang the lodges will allow guests to embark on a ‘Six Senses Journey’ between each lodge.
There will be a total of 82 suites divided between the lodges, offering incredible views, especially the lodge in Punakha, which overlooks the Mo Chu River and the lodge in Gangtey, which has views of the Phobjika Valley.
