Corral Del Rey Hotel, Seville

Nestled in the labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, Corral Del Rey is the epitome of Seville charm. The city is a unique hybrid of traditional catholic Spanish architecture, and intricate Moorish detailing.

The result is a unique, beautiful and sophisticated city, of which this hotel has to be one of the finest.

The 17th Century building is situated on two sides of a pleasant street in the heart of the old quarter, imposing wooden doors open into light, airy spaces filled with complementary muted tones and understated interiors.

Our room at Corral del Rey was minimalist, but modern and felt effortlessly comfortable and sumptuous.

A huge emperor-sized bed layered with utterly gorgeous linens sat prominently in the room complimented by chic and beautifully designed mod cons such as wifi, satellite television, electric blinds, and a state of the art mini bar and hospitality suite.

The bathroom was equally impressive with two staggeringly dramatic shower heads side-by-side looking out onto your own private courtyard. Toiletries are representative of the Sevillian love and plentiful bounties of citrus and are beautifully sharp and fragrant.

This hotel serves very good breakfast, and request you eat up on the terrace to catch some early morning sunshine and vistas across the whole city. Traditional Manchego and Jamon plates and pan con tomate are a must, although traditional continental or English breakfasts are also available.

The same terrace that you breakfast on is also home to a sweet plunge pool, and complementing sun loungers make this little enclave a perfect sunbathe spot for a pre or post siesta break.

Staff at Corral del Rey are exceptionally accommodating and all spoke wonderful English. They have an abundance of local information and good relationships with the city’s restaurants, tapas bars and tourist attractions.

Take advantage of their knowledge as Seville itself is a maze of hidden gems and not easy to navigate at times.

The hotel offers a small but perfectly formed variety of rooms, suites and self-contained apartments. The location was perfect, and the cool and luxuriant interiors meant every moment there felt heavenly – the perfect mini break sensation.
